The Atitlan Multicultural Academy (AMA) is a U.S.-International K-12 College Preparatory School in Panajachel. This progressive, creative school teaches in English and stresses social education, self-esteem building, and conflict resolution. The school community includes children, parents and teachers from over 20 nations. AMA was formed in 2005 and uses the U.S. calendar (September-June), and has already grown from 23 to approximately 100 students. Its graduates go on to universities in Guatemala, Latin America, Europe and the United States--including acceptances at prestigious schools such as Dartmouth, Stanford, Brown, Vassar, Bard, and others. AMA is accredited by the Ministerio de Educacion de Guatemala.
